Judge says Lindsay Lohan doing well on probation

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Lindsay Lohan received her second favorable probation report in a row and a judge told the actress that she appears to be on track to complete a strict program by the end of March.

Lohan appeared in court for less than five minutes Tuesday to update the judge on her progress in completing strict probation terms that were imposed in November after a series of missteps by the actress.

By all accounts, the rigid program has benefited Lohan, with Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner telling Lohan that she received favorable reports from probation officials and her community service program. Lohan is doing mandatory cleanup duty at the county morgue and attending frequent psychotherapy sessions, with Sautner requiring Lohan to appear in court monthly for updates.

“Just keep doing what you’re doing, you appear to be doing it well,” Sautner told Lohan.

The model and actress arrived early for Tuesday’s hearing, wearing black slacks, a blue blouse and matching sweater.

The “Mean Girls” star will have to work at the morgue 15 times before she returns to court on Feb. 22.

Sautner said Lohan appears to be on track to complete morgue duty and court-mandated therapy by March 29, just shy of five years after the actress’ problems began with a drunken driving arrest on Memorial Day weekend in 2007. After that, she will probably be placed on informal probation that won’t require court appearances.

She has struggled with the terms of her sentence since then, prompting judges to send Lohan to jail and rehab repeatedly. Tuesday’s hearing marked the second straight hearing in which the actress wasn’t on the receiving end of threats of further punishment.

“She will continue to make the completion of her community service a top priority,” Lohan’s publicist Steve Honig wrote in an email after the hearing.

The actress remains on probation for both the drunken driving case and a misdemeanor grand theft case filed after she took a necklace without permission in January 2010. She pleaded no contest to taking the $2,500 necklace and served 35 days on house arrest last summer.

Lohan returns to court for progress report

Actress Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to return to court Tuesday for an assessment of the progress she’s made in fulfilling her probation requirements.

At a hearing in December, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told Lohan she had “done well” in her community service sentence of working at the county morgue.

At the time, Lohan had 41 more days to work at the morgue — 12 shifts each month — and four sessions with a psychologist per month before her supervised probation could be eased in March.

If she fails she could spend months in a jail, the judge has told her.

Lohan had some initial stumbles when first put on probation.

In November, she was found in violation when she admitted that she failed to comply with Sautner’s earlier order that she work at a women’s shelter. Her punishment — a 30-day jail sentence — translated into just a few hours behind bars because of measures to reduce overcrowding in Los Angeles County jails.

The court-ordered community service is part of Lohan’s sentence imposed last May when she pleaded guilty to stealing a necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store.

Lohan was already on probation for two drunken driving convictions from 2007.

Her legal woes have been compounded by her failure to attend counseling classes and alcohol and drug test failures in the past.

Could Megan Fox Steal Lindsay’s Role as Elizabeth Taylor?

They played nemeses in 2004′s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and now it appears as if Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox are going head-to-head in real life.

According to E! News, both Lohan, 25, and Fox, 25, are in talks to play the late Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz and Dick. (Taylor died of congestive heart failure at age 79 in March 2011.)

“I’ve been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox,” executive producer Larry Thompson tells the site.

“It’s a very serious selection,” Thompson adds. “It’s like casting for Hollywood royalty.”

Fox may have an edge over Lohan, as the Mean Girls star is still on probation until the end of March — provided she complies with the terms of her sentencing.

Liz and Dick will begin shooting in Canada sometime this spring.

Lindsay Lohan ‘ready to sign for Taylor role’

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly in the final stages of signing a deal to play Hollywood legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor.

The troubled actress has been rumoured to be considered for the lead role in Lifetime network’s Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story.

The movie will focus on the iconic star’s tumultuous romantic relationship with Richard Burton, whom she married and divorced twice.

According to US website TMZ, the 25-year-old star is looking to sign a contract early next week. Lindsay is said to be planning to complete her community service earlier than required to clear her schedule for when filming begins.

The starlet has so far attended 12 morgue visits and four psychotherapy sessions but reportedly has 17 further shifts and six counselling appointments to complete.

Lindsay is due to appear in court today for a hearing to assess her probation progress. If she doesn’t comply with the conditions of her sentence, she could face 270 days in prison.

However, if she finishes her probation as ordered, the actress could be lifted off the legal punishment by the end of March.
