Father of actress Lindsay Lohan arrested in Tampa

The father of actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested Tuesday in Florida on domestic violence charges after police said he grabbed his on-and-off girlfriend’s arms and pushed her down multiple times during a daylong argument.

A Tampa Police Department report said one cause of the fight between 51-year-old Michael Lohan and 28-year-old Kathryn Major was a scheduled Tuesday court date in nearby Sarasota County on a previous domestic violence case.

“She had some redness on her arms, some minor bruising and it was determined that he grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground a couple of times,” police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

After being placed in custody, Lohan complained of chest pains and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Davis said he apparently tried to check himself out and leave unnoticed when he thought the officers had departed, but they quickly arrested him.

Lohan, who told police he moved to Tampa to get away from the publicity surrounding his celebrity daughter, was being held at the Hillsborough County Orient Road Jail without bail. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.

According to the police report, officers arrived at Major’s condominium early Tuesday to respond to a domestic violence call. They could hear a woman yelling “stop” and “leave me alone.”

Lohan opened the door when officers knocked, out of breath and sweating, the report said.

“He immediately got defensive saying ‘everything is OK and nothing happened here,’” the report said. “The victim started yelling in the background for us to help her because he was lying.”

In addition to the injuries to Major, which did not require medical treatment, police said jewelry and clothing from her closet was strewn around and a bathroom door had a dent at about the height of Lohan’s head. The report quoted Major as saying Lohan had banged his own head on the door and that he intended to blame her for injuring him if police came.

In addition to the court date, police said Lohan was angry because Major would not perform oral sex on him.

Police said Lohan came to Major’s condo Sunday and that she decided to let him stay even though she had a temporary domestic violence injunction against him from the Sarasota County case. The hearing Tuesday was whether to make it permanent.

Lohan told police Major, a former reporter for the Star tabloid, was his girlfriend and soon-to-be fiancée.

In July, a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against Lohan stemming from a fight with Major was dismissed in Los Angeles after she failed to show up for the trial. Lohan’s attorney said Major declined to cooperate to avoid a court spectacle.

He has a history of arrests in New York over allegations of harassment from ex-girlfriends.

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan could also return to jail in California after a judge last week ruled she violated probation involving a community service assignment. A Nov. 2 court date was set to decide whether Lindsay Lohan should be jailed.

The 25-year-old actress was given probation for a 2007 drunken driving case and a misdemeanor theft case this year.

Lohan orders 36 cupcakes for morgue staff

Actress Lindsay Lohan officially started her court-ordered community service at the Los Angeles County Morgue on Friday.

She showed up around 5:30 a.m. and entered the facility through the back entrance to avoid all the media attention.

Thursday, Lohan was sent home for showing up 40 minutes late. She and her publicist said the tardiness was due to confusion regarding what entrance to go through.

“The volunteer center allowed her to come back today,” said Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office spokesman Ed Winter. “She’s been ordered to be on time for her service and if she has any other problems, then she’ll be removed from the program.”

Winter said Lohan’s duties at the morgue will be vacuuming, sweeping and other custodial and janitorial responsibilities, including cleaning toilets and emptying trash bins. Winter said the actress will not have any contact with bodies at the morgue.

Winters also said Lohan will get a 30-minute lunch break but will not be able to leave the premises. Her day will end sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Workers and others doing community service at the morgue could face disciplinary action if they take pictures of Lohan, Winter said. So far, no cellphones have been confiscated.

According to the coroner’s office, Lohan had an assistant bring her an In-N-Out hamburger and she ordered 36 cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery for the staff and volunteers.

Lindsay got her lunch, but the cupcake delivery man was turned away.

A representative for Lohan said it’s unfortunate the actress’s well-intentioned actions were not taken in the spirit in which she intended, which was to show she was sorry for showing up late Thursday.

Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner revoked Lohan’s probation during a hearing Wednesday after the judge learned the actress had been fired from doing community service at a women’s shelter.

Sautner ordered Lohan to complete 360 hours at the center and 120 hours at the morgue in April as punishment for taking a $2,500 necklace without permission.

Lohan later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge related to the necklace and served 35 days on house arrest.

Lohan must complete 32 hours of service by her next court hearing Nov. 2, or she could be sent back to jail.

It is Lohan’s second time doing service at the morgue. She initially completed a program there after a pair of drunken driving arrests in 2007.

Lindsay Lohan does morgue duty

Actress Lindsay Lohan performed her first day of court-ordered community service at the Los Angeles County morgue today.

Lohan had intended to perform community service there on Thursday but was turned away because she was late. But this morning, she arrived about 7 a.m. and was escorted inside the facility.

The staff at the morgue has been warned that anyone taking a picture of the actress will be fired on the spot, the celebrity website TMZ.com reported, citing sources.

The warning was delivered Wednesday, along with a reminder that staff members are prohibited from taking any non-official pictures inside the morgue, according to TMZ.

Lohan was assigned to the morgue in a ruling Wednesday by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who revoked her probation stemming from the 2007 DUI case and this year’s misdemeanor theft case involving a $2,500 necklace purloined from a jewelry store in Venice.

Sautner said Lohan’s failure to show up for nine community service appointments at the Downtown Women’s Center on Skid Row had shown a disregard for the court’s orders. Lohan “blew off” the 360 hours of community service that she had been ordered to complete at the center, putting in only 21 hours, the judge said.

“There has been violation after violation,” Sautner said, asserting that probation is a gift and “not a right.”

Disregarding arguments that Lohan still had time to complete the required community service, Sautner scheduled a hearing for Nov. 2 to determine what additional punishment, if any, the actress would face, and she set Lohan’s bail at $100,000. Lohan posted bail and left the courthouse shortly after noon Wednesday.

The judge said that after posting bail, Lohan would have to report to the county morgue, and she urged her to perform a minimum of 16 hours of community service work there before the Nov. 2 hearing.

But what’s been dubbed “guts duty” in a workplace reported to be so noxious that spontaneous heaving is common did not start well for the 25-year-old star of such movies as “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday.” She was scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. Thursday but showed up only at 8:41 a.m. and was turned away, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.

“She’s welcome to come back, but she has to show up on time,” Harvey said.

In a message posted on Twitter, Lohan apologized for Thursday’s tardiness, which she blamed on confusion about where to go and delays caused by the media.

“… I’m sorry for the confusion that I may of (sic) caused to those at the coroner’s office. Won’t happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help.”

Lohan arrives ‘extremely early’ for morgue duty

Lindsay Lohan arrived early for her community service at the Los Angeles County Morgue Friday after being turned away at the LA County Morgue on Thursday when she arrived 45 minutes late. Lindsay made sure she was on-time today and turned up a hour EARLY at the coroner’s office.

Lohan arrived well ahead of the 7 a.m. call time Friday and snuck in through a back entrance. Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said she arrived “extremely early.” Lindsay is expected to begin orientation at 7:45 this morning.

Winter also said she was allowed to enter through a private door out of respect for families of the deceased, due to the media presence.

An X17 photographer in the scene tells: “Lindsay arrived so early, she was sure to be on time. There’s not that much traffic at 6:30 so she breezed into downtown from Venice and arrived an hour early.”

A day earlier, the troubled actress was scheduled to show up at 8 a.m. but was about 40 minutes late, TMZ reported.

Coroner’s officials considered Lohan a no-show for the day.

Lohan’s publicist told TMZ that the actress was late due in part to “a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival.”

On her Twitter page, Lohan offered the following explanation: “With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I’ve never been so happy to go to therapy!!!! Also, I’m sorry for the confusion that I may of (sic) caused to those at the Coroner’s office. Won’t happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help.”

Lohan’s morgue duty is expected to include janitorial work, such as cleaning autopsy tables, removing trash and medical waste, and sweeping floors.

On Wednesday, Lohan was briefly jailed after a judge revoked her probation. The 25-year-old actress bailed out within an hour.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner ordered Lohan to perform 16 hours of community service at the morgue each week until a Nov. 2 hearing to decide whether she should be sent back to jail.

Sautner determined Lohan violated her probation by skipping out on court-ordered community service at the Downtown Women’s Center, which terminated the actress.

Lohan said the program wasn’t “fulfilling,” according to a statement read in court by Sautner.

Lohan had been ordered to complete 360 hours of community service at the center by next April as part of her probation in a shoplifting case involving a $2,500 necklace.

By October, prosecutors said she had completed just 12 hours.

Lohan had her probation revoked by judge Stephanie Soutner Wednesday and left the courtroom in handcuffs. She posted the $100,000-bail and is still required to work two eight-hour shifts a week until her probation revocation hearing November 2.

Lohan late, turned away on first day at morgue

Coroner’s officials say Lindsay Lohan has arrived late to her first day of community service at the morgue and was turned away.

Spokesman Craig Harvey says the actress was 40 minutes late to an orientation session scheduled for 8 a.m. Thursday, but will be given another chance to show up on time on Friday.

Lohan tried to report to the morgue one day after she was scolded by a judge for being terminated from a community service assignment at a women’s shelter. The hearing ended with the 25-year-old actress’ probation being revoked and her being led from court in handcuffs.

She later posted $100,000 bail and was released.

Her spokesman Steve Honig says the actress’ tardiness was partially because she didn’t know which entrance to the facility to use.

Lindsay tweeted, “With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I’ve never been so happy to go to therapy!!! Also, I’m sorry for the confusion that I may of (sic) caused to those at the Coroner’s office. Won’t happen again, now I know where to go!”
