Lindsay Lohan: is it love or PR?

Lindsay Lohan has fuelled rumours she is dating German fashion designer Philipp Plein after they were photographed kissing and walking hand-in-hand in Milan, Italy.

The actress has signed up as the face of Plein’s designs and was spotted taking part in a photoshoot for the brand in Bellagio, Lake Como before the partnership was officially announced during Milan Fashion Week on Saturday.

Introducing Lohan as his new muse, the designer gushed about the troubled actress saying that she was perfect for the role.

“Lindsay authentic, talented and beautiful. A highly acclaimed actress and model. We will be able to create unique images: refined and luxurious, but also full of sensuality,” he said.

Plein’s enthusiasm is mirrored by Lohan who told the New York Post: “Something important to know about this collection is that it’s expressing something a little bit more edgy.

“And I think maybe people’s perceptions of me have been kind of taken out of context just from what you see and read.”

The pair’s collaboration came about “spontaneously”, Lohan explained, while admitting she had only met Plein for the first time last Friday. But they appear to have quickly grown close.

Over the week, the couple have been spotted several times out and about in Milan. They’ve been snapped enjoying a pizza dinner together, kissing in the street and strolling hand-in-hand around the city, while she was also seen taking a ride with him in his Ferrari.

But Lohan and Plein’s cosy friendship may be less than it seems. Her representative denied dating rumours while Plein’s spokesman declined to comment on the matter.

Whatever the state of the couple’s relationship though, the modelling contract can only be good for Lohan’s flagging public profile.

The actress takes over from Mischa Barton as the face of Plein’s label and will reportedly earn approximately half a million dollars for her promotional efforts.

The cash infusion is likely to be very welcome. Lohan’s acting career has stalled in recent years following significant publicity surrounding her personal life, including a few brushes with the law.

This past weekend, Lindsay Lohan was officially revealed as designer Philipp Plein’s muse for Milan Fashion Week. Because of how the deal actually went down — Plein flew Lohan to Italy, the two met on Friday, Lohan saw the clothes Saturday, and began shooting on Sunday — rumors have been flying that the two are engaged in more than just work-related business.

According to Fox News, an insider informed FOX411’s Pop Tarts that, “Lindsay has been staying in Philipp’s room every night since she has arrived. There’s a lot of chemistry there.”

Celebuzz further reinforces this concept with a picture of the two holding hands in Milan.

Although the idea that Lohan and Plein are dating seems to be very plausible, Lindsay’s rep puts an end to the rumors when he told Celebuzz that the two are not dating.

Now that the 25-year-old is attempting to ignite her career once again as both a model and actress, she is being introduced to more “European endeavors.” She will be making a trip to Russia in October to meet with Russian diplomats.

Fox News releases a quote that Nathan Folks, producer of the company which facilitated the fashion deal between Lohan and Plein, has said about the actress.

“Lindsay is dead set on reviving her film career and modeling career. We are proud of her. Her comeback has begun,” he said.

Lindsay Lohan shoots sexy ad campaign in Italy

Lindsay Lohan is getting back in to the world of fashion.

Phillipp Plein has named the beleaguered film star as the new face of his Spring 2012 campaign.

The campaign is being shot in Bellagio, Italy.

Lohan was in the front row at Milan Fashion Week to support Plein’s new fashions, reports Fashionista.

“Lindsay is a beautiful, highly acclaimed actress and model,” the German designer said in a statement last week. “We will be able to create unique images: Refined and luxurious, but also full of sensuality.”

Back in 2010, actress Mischa Barton was named the star of Plein’s line of apparel.

Lohan is no stranger to the world of style, both behind and in front of the camera.

Since her rise to fame, the 25 year-old has lent her face to luxury lines like Miu Miu and Jil Stuart. As a designer, she had success with her line of leggings from her 6126 by Lindsay Lohan.

In an effort to add a youthful zeal to its image, the French fashion house of Ungaro enlisted Lohan as a collaborator.

The show was poorly received and she wasn’t not asked to return.

In recent weeks, it’s been Lohan’s little sister Ali who has been garnering the fashion headlines.

The teen model has been accused of having had plastic surgery after appearing in photos with a dramatically different face.

Michael Lohan opens up on Lindsay & Ali

With a new modeling job, a movie in the works and her legal troubles seemingly behind her, Lindsay Lohan appears to have turned a corner on her troubles – something dad Michael Lohan hopes stays that way.

“She’s going to be in a fashion thing. She has the ‘Gotti’ movie coming up and I just hope that she stays on the right path,” Michael told Access on Monday at the “Celebrity Fight Night” press conference when asked about his headline-making daughter.

“I can’t tell her what to do anymore. She’s a grown woman. I can just be an example. I’m trying to be as best as I can,” Michael, who is squaring off against Kato Kaelin on November 5 at the charity event, continued.

Michael also addressed recent claims that his youngest daughter, Ali, went under the knife.

“She didn’t have plastic surgery. They said the same thing about Lindsay with breast augmentation. She never had that either,” he explained.

As for his upcoming charity fight, which will be available on FilmOn.com and via Pay-Per-View, Michael said he’s ready to put his friendship aside and duke it out.

“I’ve known Kato for a long time. He’s actually a friend, but you know what, when you enter the ring, it kind of all that goes aside,” he told Access . “It’ll be all right. It’s a competition.”
