Lohan’s dad: ‘I was attacked’

Lindsay Lohan’s father Michael called police to his home in California on Thursday night after he was allegedly attacked on his front driveway.

Lohan claims a man grabbed him from behind and attempted to choke him as he was about to get into his car outside his house in Santa Monica.

Lohan fought his assailant off and called emergency services, who are said to have found him shirtless and covered in scratches.

He told police he was attacked by a white male, aged in his 50s or 60s, who was wearing a black tracksuit, according to TMZ.com.

The incident happened just hours after Lohan’s famous daughter was released from rehab in California ahead of an appearance in front of a judge on Friday morning, which could see her sent back to jail for failing two court-ordered drug tests.

Lohan needs at least year in rehab, expert says

Lindsay Lohan was spared another stint in jail when a judge in Beverly Hills, Calif. ordered her back to rehab until after the new year for failing a drug test.

But he warned Lohan this could be her last chance to get her life back on track. And, on “The Early Show on Saturday Morning,” one expert said Lohan needs at least a full year in rehab for that to happen.

After Friday’s court session, defense attorney Jim Moret told reporters, “The judge said, ‘Lindsay Lohan, you are an addict. You know that. You need to be in treatment and you need to avoid the holidays, because I don’t want you to be tempted by drugs or alcohol.” ‘

Lohan voluntarily checked herself into the Betty Ford Clinic three weeks ago, reports CBS News Correspondent Ben Tracy. It’s her stay in rehab in three years.

Lohan appeared relieved she wouldn’t be back behind bars, Tracy says.

But in a probation report obtained by the website TMZ.com, Lohan told an officer she can’t afford to continue to pay for the treatment program and she needs to work.”

And rehab won’t be easy.

“She’s in a rehabilitation program that’s known for its hardcore intense regimen, so this isn’t a cakewalk,” points out CBS News legal analyst Trent Copeland.

And the judge seemed less concerned with her career getting off track than her life becoming a train wreck, Tracy observes.

“The judge clearly recognizes she’s an addict,” legal analyst and former prosecutor Beth Karas remarked to “Early Show on Saturday Morning” co-anchor Chris Wragge, “and treatment is what she needs, and in-patient treatment is what she needs — not to be out on a promise that she’s gonna do the right thing, because she keeps relapsing.

Karas, a correspondent for “In Session” on TruTV, added that Lohan “needs behavior modification, and that doesn’t happen in two or even four weeks.”

“Somebody who has multiple relapses, multiple treatment centers and multiple probation violations, (as in) a case like this, (that) somebody needs to be in treatment for at least a year, because the behavioral modification isn’t gonna happen in a month, two months or three months,” agreed addiction specialist Dr. Howard Samuels, founder of The Hills Treatment Center in Los Angeles. “You have to change every aspect of your life. And that’s (why) getting clean and sober is such a difficult thing for any addict/alcoholic to achieve.

“I think it’s great she’s gonna be in treatment during the holidays,” Samuels continued, “because the holidays can be very triggering for an addict/alcoholic, because of all the partying. But … this is just residential treatment. She then has to transition, and she really needs to be in a sober living house for the next nine months in order to really learn how to live clean and sober in the real world. That is what’s most difficult. It’s easy to be in residential once you’re there: It’s very structured, you’re not triggered, you’re around a lot of sober people. But the real challenge is gonna to be when she leaves and has to go out into the real world. That’s why she needs to be in a halfway house.”

The judge warned Lohan that, should she test positive again, she’ll get six months in jail, Karas noted. “That will be the residential treatment next time around, without the doctors around her,’ Karas said.

Does Lohan finally get it – that she’s an addict and need help – or is she in denial like so many celebrities, Wragge asked.

“It’s not about celebrities,” Samuels responded. “Everybody talks about celebrities like they’re some kind of alien race. This is a case of an addict/alcoholic. Like any addict/alcoholic there, is a tremendous amount of denial. And in a case like this, if she can’t afford Betty Ford, there’s a lot of treatment centers that are a lot cheaper than Betty Ford that are equally as good. So, they’re out there if she so wants to get sober.”

Judge orders Lindsay Lohan to stay in rehab until January

Actress Lindsay Lohan must remain in a drug rehabilitation program until January 3 instead of going to jail for violating her probation with a failed drug test, a judge ruled Friday.

If Lohan violates the rules of her rehab program or fails a drug test before her next court date on February 25, she will be sent to jail for 180 days, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox told her.

Staying clean and sober until then would end Lohan’s supervised probation, and she can “put this long episode behind you,” Fox said.

“Do you understand?” the judge asked her.

“Yes, sir,” a sobbing Lohan said.

Fox had ordered the actress to prison for a month in September, but she was freed 14 hours after reporting to the facility when another judge granted her a $300,000 bail. Three days later, Lohan checked into the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

“I wish that she could get it together, but I’m not quite sure we’ve gotten her attention yet,” prosecutor Danette Meyers said Friday as she asked the judge to send the actress to jail for 180 days.

Meyers argued that Lohan has a pattern of checking into rehab “every time she has a violation and jail is leering over her head.”

Defense lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told the judge that Lohan “is trying her best” but “relapse is a part of recovery.”

“She remains committed to the treatment program,” Holley said.

Her probation officer recommended that Lohan be allowed to remain in rehab, Holley said.

While Lohan did not speak beyond short “yes” and “no” answers in court, she did send a handwritten letter to the judge. The contents were not immediately disclosed.

Fox, who took over Lohan’s three-year-long case in August, said he thought Lohan’s “epiphany may have been encouraged by the fact that (she) went to jail.”

“I’m not going to be manipulated,” the judge said as he began to lecture the 24-year-old actress. “You are an addict,” Fox said. “I hope you understand this. You have to change your lifestyle.”

Otherwise, Lohan will destroy her reputation and be “unemployable and uninsurable,” he warned.

Lohan acknowledged in a series of Twitter messages last month that she failed the test and has a drug problem.

“Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night,” Lohan wrote. “I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps.”

The Beverly Hills Courthouse has been the scene of several Lohan appearances over the past year related to violations of her probation for a 2007 drunken driving conviction.

Lindsay Lohan ordered to appear in court for sentencing

Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to appear in court October 22 in connection with her probation violation, RadarOnline.com is reporting exclusively.

Judge Elden Fox ordered the actress to appear. She is currently at the Betty Ford Center for her addiction to cocaine. Lindsay tested positive for cocaine during one of her random drug tests that were a condition of her probation. Judge Fox previously said that any dirty drug test would result in 30 days in jail for the Mean Girls star.

Sources close to the situation tell us that Lohan won’t dispute the test results, turning the court action into a sentencing hearing instead of a more formal probation violation hearing. (Lindsay admitted that she slipped up via Twitter after initially denying it, when the first news reports of her “dirty” test appeared.)

“Lindsay will be sentenced next Friday for her probation violation,” a close source told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “Judge Fox could do several things. He could order her to jail immediately, sentence her to 30 days and suspend the sentence until she completes her stint at Betty Ford Center. Or he could come up with another scenario. “Lindsay’s fate rests with Judge Fox.”

Lindsay will be escorted from Betty Ford by at least one staff member from the facility. “Lindsay will have someone with her at all times when she leaves Betty Ford,” said a source. “They want to make sure that Lindsay is not tempted by anything.”

Lindsay Lohan to have family therapy

Lindsay Lohan is to have family therapy in rehab tomorrow (18.10.10). The troubled actress – who is currently undergoing a rehabilitation treatment program at the Betty Ford Clinic in Los Angeles – is to be visited by her mother Dina and younger siblings for a “family day” of therapy sessions.

RadarOnline.com reports: “The first scheduled ‘family day’ for patient Lindsay Lohan is October 18, and it will be a jam-packed therapy session, a source close to the Lohans tells us.”

The 24-year-old actress’ mother Dina is due to fly from New York to Los Angeles today (17.10.10), and is expected to bring Lindsay’s siblings Michael Jr., Ali and Cody with her.

However, Lindsay’s estranged father Michael Lohan – who has had problems with alcohol and drugs – will not be in attendance, despite his claims he wants to purposefully relapse to get admitted to the clinic to spend time with his daughter.

Dina said: “Listen, I haven’t spoken out until now because I don’t want this back and forth. I don’t want a war of words. He’s just hurting Lindsay.

“She doesn’t want him there. Mike has lost his mind.”

During Dina’s time in Los Angeles, the reality star is also believed to be hoping to meet up with Kris Jenner, the mother of TV stars Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.

TMZ reports: “We’re told Dina plans on being in Los Angeles for about a week and would love to pick Kris’ brain about how the Kardashian girls managed to do so well in the media spotlight.

“Our sources say Lindsay and Kim had become close before Lindsay went to jail – the two of them even met up while Lindsay was in New York visiting family back in September.”
