Lindsay Lohan will not be freed from jail this week, contrary to reports.
The actress is currently serving a 90-day sentence after she violated the probation from her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). She had been ordered to attend alcohol education classes, but didn’t go to enough.
After her spell inside, Lindsay will have to check into a rehab facility for 90 days under the terms of her new court order.
It has been widely reported the star will not serve her full term at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, due to overcrowding. When she started her sentence last week it was claimed she would be incarcerated for around two weeks, but it has been rumoured she could be out even earlier.
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore has now denied the claims. “Nothing has changed,” he told E! News.
“When she was incarcerated I said a couple of weeks and it hasn’t been a couple of weeks. That turns out to be the first part of next week. It could be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, something like that.”
Not long before his statement, Lindsay’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley had expressed her hope the star would be free by the weekend.
Shawn has visited Lindsay in prison several times, and says she is finding it tough. The 24-year-old was not allowed visits from her family over the weekend, which Shawn said she struggled to cope with.
“I have my fingers crossed and Lindsay does too,” Shawn said, referring to plans to get Lindsay out by the weekend.
Shawn added reports Lindsay has been wailing hysterically and been subjected to teasing by her fellow inmates are untrue. She said the star and the other prisoners have a “mutual respect” for each other.

Actress Lindsay Lohan did not lose her hair extensions when she was booked at a California jail last week, despite earlier reports to the contrary, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Lohan’s hair extensions were not removed because they were bonded into her hair. Extensions that are detachable are removed from inmates, he said.
Whitmore’s statement corrects previous media reports that the “Mean Girls” actress burst into tears when prison wardens ripped out her hair extensions upon entering the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.
Lohan was jailed on July 20 for 90 days for violating the terms of her probation.
Officials maintain that Lohan, 24, did not receive special treatment because her hair extensions were sewn in near her scalp and therefore were not easily removable.

Lindsay Lohan has said that she wants time with her family before going to rehab, it has been reported.
The 24-year-old Mean Girls actress, who was jailed earlier this month for violating probation in a DUI case, is believed to be distressed about going straight from prison to a rehabilitation centre for a mandatory three-month period.
Lohan’s attorney told People magazine: “She’s a little upset right now. She’d like to spend some time with her family, and there’s at least some question as to whether or not she’ll have to go directly to rehab.”
She said that, although the judge in Lohan’s case initially said that she could have 24 hours at home before going to the clinic, there is “a push now for her to go directly to rehab from jail”.
The lawyer added: “I think it would only be fair for her to spend some time with her family and that’s what she’d like for me to emphasise to judge.”

The Mean Girls actress is currently behind bars at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, where she is serving part of a 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation relating to a 2007 DUI arrest.
Lohan is expected to be released next week (beg02Aug10) and she will go straight to court-ordered rehab.
The actress’ father Michael fears prison will have a negative effect on his daughter, who he claims is suffering from a prescription drug addiction, and he’s asking both Downey, Jr and Wahlberg, who have both spent time behind bars, to help.
He tells Tennessee radio station 107.5 The River, “My people are reaching out to Robert Downey, Jr. and to Mark Wahlberg. I know both of them, and Mark is a tremendous human being. Hopefully, they’ll see her before she gets out and she’ll get in this rehab and get off these prescription meds, and she’ll get her life back.”
The Iron Man star was jailed on numerous occasions as he battled a raging drug habit between 1996 and 2001. He also spent time in court-ordered rehab before finally kicking his addictions and reviving his career, while Wahlberg battled drug addiction as a teenager and spent 45 days in prison after he was convicted of assault.

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly under 24-hour surveillance following concerns about a number of scratches on her arms.
Doctors from the Lofts medical centre warned officials at the California prison to look out for signs of self-harming, reports The Mirror.
“They are suitably worried by the marks to confiscate her prison-issue toiletries. They are not taking any chances whatsoever as she’s quite vulnerable,” a source said.
“They are not sure if the marks are fresh or from her time spent at the centre before but they certainly look suspicious.”
It was previously reported that the Mean Girls star may only have to serve two weeks of her 90-day sentence for violating her probation following her DUI charge.

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been placed in isolation following a “hysterical fit.” The 24-year-old actress – who started her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on Tuesday – is said to have broken down in tears, screaming at wardens, forcing them to take her away from other inmates.
Newly-released Cheryl Presser, 43, told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “She is in with the killers and she has only been let out for hour-long breaks, and during those she was locked down to a table.
“On Friday, Lindsay got put on lockdown. While some of us got two hours to go to the yard, or the TV room, Lindsay was on total lockdown.
“She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling so she got put in isolation.”
Another former inmate claimed Lindsay was upset because other prisoners had been poking fun at her by calling her “Firecrotch,” the nickname she was infamously given by oil heir Brandon Davis.
The source said: “She was just sitting in her cell staring straight ahead. Sometimes wailing, but mostly just sitting.
“Some of the inmates in our ward, some of the tougher ones, were yelling ‘fire crotch’ at her.
“They just started chanting it at her. Lindsay didn’t say nothing. She was crying though.”
It is believed the actress was briefly admitted to the nearby Lofts medical center and checked over following the incident.
Cheryl also revealed the “Mean Girls” star has failed to win over other inmates because her constant crying keeps them awake at night.
She said: “The wards are cold and smelly – they stink. The air conditioning is turned up so high that you can’t sleep because of the cold. Inmates try and shove the air vents full of toilet paper to stop the air coming out, but it doesn’t work.
“Lindsay would lie there shivering all night, crying and trying to cover her face with her hands. Her wailing was keeping everyone awake.”
Lindsay is expected to serve less than 14 days of the 90-day sentence she was given for breaching the terms of probation set for her 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) conviction.

Lindsay Lohan may not be doing much in jail, but she’s got a plan to bank a boatload of dough once she’s set free. According to Fox 411, before beginning her jail stint, Lohan managed to lock down post-sentence tell all interviews that will earn her seven figures. Expect a major TV sitdown once Lohan’s false eyelashes and hair extensions are back in place.
Lohan’s gotten a lot of visitors in her first few days at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif. On Thursday, ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson stopped by. The day before, Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, and younger sister Ali paid her a visit. The pair were videotaped entering the detention center that afternoon.
Jail life’s not easy for Lohan. According to TMZ.com, the starlet’s struggling to find drinkable water, and according to People magazine, she’s stuffed in a cell block with convicted murderers and felons. She’s not allowed to smoke; her makeup’s not welcome.
Lohan’s lawyer maintains the actress is “doing the best she can.” Shawn Chapman Holley, who saw the startlet Tuesday, told People magazine that Lohan’s “spirits aren’t high” and she is “having a difficult time adjusting.”
“She’s trying to make the necessary adjustments to an extremely stressful and difficult situation,” Holley said. “There were some tears. … She’s doing the best she can.”
Former inmate Tiffany Hawes, who was being released as Lohan was entering the facility, told Britain’s Daily Mail:
“Lindsay was crying when she came in. She was handcuffed but seemed calm. We all started saying, ‘God bless you Lindsay,’ and saying ‘Hi’ to her and then she smiled at us.”

Lindsay Lohan’s father has laughed off reports he attacked his fiancee during a fight before he headed to Los Angeles for his daughter’s pre-jail hearing on Tuesday, insisting his partner is simply cashing in on her brush with fame.
Michael Lohan tells TMZ.com his girlfriend, Kate Major, is strapped for cash and she created a domestic violence story to help pay the rent.
Major has filed a police complaint accusing Lohan of attacking her during a heated argument on Monday afternoon. She claims the famous father pushed her over a chair and injured her shoulder and then reportedly kicked her in the face as she lay on the ground.
Major admitted herself to a local hospital to receive treatment for her injuries and the website claims she has photo evidence of the damage Michael supposedly inflicted upon her.
But Lohan tells TMZ.com, “She has no money, no job and she’s been living off of me for the last eight months… and her dad just cut her off.”
