Lohan to answer for drugs

Lindsay Lohan will have to answer more questions about a 2007 car chase that landed her in jail, including inquiries about drug use at the time, a judge ruled Thursday.

Lohan’s answers will be used in a civil lawsuit filed against the actress by a woman who claims she suffered emotional distress after the incident, which prompted a criminal case that still haunts the “Mean Girls” star.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard A. Stone ordered Lohan to sit for a two-hour deposition next month. The judge approved a request by Lohan’s attorney to allow the questioning to happen after July 6, when a criminal judge will decide whether Lohan violated her probation by missing a court hearing in May.

Tracie Rice, who was a passenger in a car being chased by Lohan in July 2007, sued the actress for assault, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress a month later. The case is scheduled to go to trial in late July.

Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanours stemming from her arrest after the chase and another incident a few months earlier.

Rice’s attorney, Paul Hoffman, argued Thursday that Lohan hadn’t answered key questions about her drug use and whether she was remorseful, both of which could help his case.

“This case is about somebody who claims to be sober and had cocaine and blew a DUI for alcohol,” Hoffman said. He said the questions would be crucial to a jury deciding whether Lohan should have to pay punitive damages if she is found liable.

Lohan’s attorney, Ed McPherson, said the questions seemed aimed more at embarrassing Lohan in the press and could harm her if used at the probation hearing. He said Lohan sat for a daylong deposition during which she was subjected to numerous lines of questioning, including whether she had seen a recent “60 Minutes” episode featuring Al Pacino.

“It’s clear they don’t need answers to these questions,” McPherson argued. He also said Lohan was busy focusing on the fulfilling the conditions of her criminal case and working.

“My client is undergoing weekly drug testing, alcohol classes and trying to film a movie,” McPherson said.

Stone said he would order a second deposition, but that attorneys should contact him if any issues arose rather than returning to court.

McPherson said after the hearing that his client would comply with the order and answer the questions about Lohan’s past drug use. “I think it’s a bit of overkill in this case,” he said.

Hoffman declined comment after the hearing.

Lohan has struggled with the terms of her probation in the criminal case, for which she served 84 minutes in jail and was sentenced to probation and alcohol education courses. Her probation had to be extended after she missed deadlines to finish the classes, and Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel revoked her probation in May after Lohan missed a court hearing.

Revel ordered Lohan, 23, to wear an ankle alcohol monitor and increased her bail after the device issued an alert that authorities have said was alcohol-related.

She did not attend Thursday’s hearing.

Lindsay Lohan defends porn star biopic

Lindsay Lohan has defended her decision to tackle the controversial role of porn star Linda Lovelace in new movie Inferno – insisting the film will not be “vulgar” or overly sexual. The former child star is due to begin filming the biopic, which tells the story of the infamous Deep Throat star’s rise to fame, later this year with director Matthew Wilder. The part has already outraged her father Michael, who has claimed the raunchy role will end his daughter’s acting career for good – but Lohan is adamant the movie is not what most people are expecting.

Lindsay said:

“I’m playing Linda Lovelace, who was the first globally recognized porn star. She became famous in the ’70s with her movie Deep Throat. We follow her through her ups and downs and show what really went on in her life.

The way that Matthew [Wilder, the director] wants to shoot it, is not vulgar. It’s not about the raw sex and the shots of her fully nude. It’s more about getting into her psyche and seeing how scared she was. That’s what I want to show most in the film.

People are going to say: ‘Oh, Lindsay Lohan is doing a porno.’ But it’s not like that. I’ve never played someone’s true-life story before. A lot of the other movies I did were just brainless for me. So it’s nice to play something where I’m able to experience all these different emotions.”

Lohan: ‘TV bosses set me up’

Lindsay Lohan has launched an angry tirade at TV bosses over a new reality show which appears to show her turning up late for a photoshoot – the troubled actress is adamant she was “set up”. The Mean Girls star was booked to feature in an episode of new Bravo series Double Exposure, which offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the work of celebrity photography duo Markus Klinko and Indrani, and fashion stylist GK Reid. Lohan signed up for a photoshoot back in September to promote her leggings brand, which would be taped for the show. But the actress is fuming after discovering the episode, which aired in the US on Tuesday, was titled ‘Is Lindsay Here Yet?’ and focused on her tardiness. The star admits she was late for the shoot, but she’s alleged producers deliberately gave her the wrong start time.

In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, Lohan writes,

“This couldn’t be more UNTRUE – sucks when ‘friends’ use you (in this case for ratings) even if they’re lying… As for BRAVO and their false representation of me on their new show; I was given the wrong call time – now I know on purpose… it was a set-up. I don’t appreciate being used for press, and I’m sure others would agree! Photo shoot for Indrani and Markus… So that’s bulls**t too…. Thank goodness for Twitter! The truth can be stated!”

Lohan not stripping for new handbag shoot

Lindsay Lohan has dismissed reports she will appear wearing nothing but her alcohol-monitoring bracelet in a naked photoshoot for her fashion line. The Mean Girls star was rumoured to be stripping off for a scandalous new promotional campaign to advertise the release of her 6126 line of handbags.
Lohan is currently under a judge’s order to wear a SCRAM device to prevent her taking drugs or drinking alcohol, and reports suggested the bracelet would be the only item the actress would wear during the shoot.
But Lohan has refuted the claims.

Can’t wait for 6126 handbags! Loving chatter about new collection…contrary to rumours, I’ll be fully clothed for the campaign! Stay tuned!!

Lohan’s new drink caused her SCRAM to go off

Lindsay Lohan is citing her new favorite tea drink as the reason her SCRAM bracelet went off at the MTV Movie Awards.
Lohan has apparently been spotted on more than one occasion with bottles of Kombucha tea. The company that produces the tea claims that there is less than 5 percent alcohol in their tea, barely a trace. But as of late, the 23-year-old’s favorite drink has been pulled from shelves. It has been suggested that Kombucha tea may contain more alcohol than its label implies, a statement which is currently being investigated.
Even so, would there be enough alcohol in Lohan’s favorite new drink to set off off her SCRAM, raising her blood alcohol level to .03-04, as reported by E! Online.
Kombucha doesn’t think so. “Although we are not familiar with the technology or sensitivity of SCRAM bracelets, we think it would be highly unlikely that our products would trigger an alarm,” stated G.T. Dave, creator of Synergy Kombucha.

Lohan tests negative for alcohol

Lindsay Lohan had not been drinking when her alcohol-monitoring bracelet went off earlier this month (Jun10) – tests have confirmed the actress was booze-free.
The Mean Girls actress was ordered to wear the SCRAM device in May (10) after missing probation hearings related to drug and drink-driving arrests.
The anklet began flashing during an MTV Movie Awards afterparty in Los Angeles on 6 June (10) and a judge issued a bench warrant for Lohan’s arrest. The warrant was recalled when the actress posted extra bail money, and she insisted she had done “nothing” to trigger the bracelet.
And now Lohan’s story has been confirmed after a urine test taken at the time of the alert proved there was no alcohol in the star’s system, according to her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, who confirmed the news to E! Online.
A source tells the website, “They did a urinalysis through Medtox labs and it was indicated conclusively that there was no alcohol in her system at that time. She… just got report back and it was negative.”
Lohan is due back in court on 6 July (10).
